Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, is now replacing Fergie Frederiksen as the lead vocalist. In 1999, the band release Mindfields and begins an extensive tour across the globe. After a few weeks in Europe the band travels to Japan for sold-out shows. After a brief break, Toto resumes their recording and releases their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993. It also features a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe as a response to the band's coverage of Africa during their recent tour. Toto's touring group is comprised by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.
